Nurrait
Weekly after-school program
To educate
High school students aged 12 to 18
To initiate
Young people aged 10 to 12, attending elementary school
A weekly after-school program for a period of 10 months offering activities designed to promote healthy lifestyle habits and self-awareness. The primary intervention tool is cross-country skiing, which can lead to a multi-day expedition on the land.
The program focuses on a strength-based approach and fostering a sense of belonging.
In concrete terms, participants take part in one of these activities at least once a week:
- A workout either outside or, in the case of extreme weather, inside.
- A leadership and cooperation workshop.
- A workshop focusing on well-being and emotional self-regulation.
- A workshop on Inuit knowledge, given by a local.
- A nutrition workshop or group cooking activity.
Throughout the school year, participants of the secondary sector only take part in a minimum of two camping trips near their community, and a five-day ski expedition in Nunavik.
